Hyperdub Signee Ikonika To Tour India As Part Of Various Artists

4 November 2016

All of us here at Wild City are incredibly proud to bring back our international property Various Artists this November, first with Milo Häfliger and then with one of the brightest bass producers in the international circuit today -Ikonika. The Hyperdub prodigy, also known as Saba Abdel-Hamid will be performing in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore later this month.

Ikonika stands tall as one of the few female faces in the largely male dominated world of dubstep, making her debut in 2008 on Hyperdub - a label known for its uncompromising quality and forward-thinking stance on bass music. Her debut 2010 album 'Contact, Love, Want, Hate' was met with acclaim from critics and fans, and cemented her position as one of dubstep’s most original and creative producers.

Her slightly roguish original work is trademarked by brash, bare and gloriously vivacious 8-bit synths combined with snapping snares, which is (goes without saying) underlined by massive, heaving basslines. Playful and clever with an abundant disregard for the confines of genre, it’s like nothing you’ve ever heard before.

Ikonika brings the same verve to her DJ sets as well, oscillating from dubstep, grime and hip-hop to dancehall, UK funky, house and techno while incorporating the freshest sounds from the underground.

This one’s going to be a riot. Check out Ikonika on SoundCloud for music and Facebook for more information.
