Pawas & Ambrish Yadav Release New Dub Techno EP 'Aftertime' As The Duo Low Volume

15 October 2026

Germany-based Indian act Pawas Gupta and his contemporary from Pune, Ambrish Yadav, found themselves living in the same neighbourhood in Cologne when they had just moved to Germany and had started building a life. With their jobs leaving them only the nighttime in their small apartments to make music, they'd do it with the volume turned so low it was almost inaudible. Over time, the limitation defined the concept as they became a collaborative duo called Low Volume. The resultant jams embodied a sense of hush and mystery.

Releasing tracks mostly built from those jams between 2010 and 2012 along with a few new ones, the duo has just released the EP 'Aftertime'.

With the ephemeral nature and slow trudging along of dub techno defining the 7-track release, it packs grooves that are more felt than vying for your attention. In that style, tracks like 'Spring Flower' briefly venture into understated funk with its obscured keyboard riffs, 'Back' signals a more house-style feel with its vocal samples and intruding synth washes breaking the held-back nature of things, while the closer 'Interval' offers a sprawling jam of glitchy microhouse. Our favourite remains the sunny, optimistic nature of the ambience-heavy 'Someone Somebody'.
