AR Rahman Scores For Olympic Opening Ceremony & Muse Unveil Official Olympic Single

29 June 2012

AR Rahman has joined forces with Danny Boyle for the third time (Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours) to score a track for the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. The track will feature in a 3 hour show called ‘Isles of Wonder’ which will be performed on 27 July.

In other Olympic related music news, Muse have been selected to provide the official song for the London 2012 Olympics. The track is titled ‘Survival’ and resonates strongly with the theme of determination and winning, almost taking us back to Queen’s ‘We Are The Champion’ days but with Matt Bellamy’s unmistakable piercing vocals and Muse’s trademark guitar whines.

The track will be played as athletes enter the stadium in the build up to the award ceremony. It will also be used as the theme for all international TV coverage. Sports fans will no doubt be hearing this song a lot over the course of next month.
