Sky Rabbit Set To Launch Debut Album

15 December 2011

Mumbai based indie/post-punk band Sky Rabbit, otherwise known as Medusa have recently announced details of their debut album due out for release on 10 January 2012. To celebrate its release on EMI Virgin Records the band will be setting off on a multi-city tour kicking off tonight in Hyderabad. They will also be giving their fans an opportunity to purchase the album at their various launch gigs across the coming month, weeks before its official release.

The band consists of Raxit (Vocals/Samples), Rahul (Guitar/Samples), Siddharth (Bass) and Harsh (Drums). Their latest offering has been in the making for over a year with co-producer Ashish Manchanda of Flying Carpet Productions, a renowned sound mixing and recording engineer for various Bollywood and Hollywood films including The Chronicles of Narnia. This new album will symbolise the beginning of a new direction for the band, completely separate from their progressive metal days as Medusa.

In 2008, Sky Rabbit was selected as one of the four bands in India to be part of British Council Soundpad, where they got a chance to record two tracks with legendary producer John Leckie (Radiohead, Pink Floyd, The Verve) at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. They then went on to perform at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton continuing their UK tour to Cardiff, Oxford, Liverpool and London.

This is what John thought:

"Medusa struck me as being true and their music is contemporary and in some ways reflects what's happening in the UK. I chose them for their attitude as well as their honesty.... they are living for their music and are honest to what they are doing."

Enough said.

Tour dates are as follows:

15 December: Hard Rock Café, Hyderabad

17 December: B Flat, Bangalore

04 January: Blue Frog, Mumbai

06 January: High Spirits, Pune

**Other January dates in Delhi, Kolkata and Northeast India yet to be confirmed. More info on Sky Rabbit shows can be found on our event page here**
