Listen: ‘Genesis’ By Mug£n

Mumbai-based artist Mug£n recently released a 5-track EP via label nrtya.

The producer’s name has been creeping up in the last few months, having featured on multiple Singled Out’s as well as on a jwala compilation, but it is this latest project that showcases the producer’s ability to create a fully fleshed-out project.

Melancholic drums are a constant throughout the EP with ghostly vocals surfacing intermittently. Serving up a buffet of nostalgia with its downtempo gloom, ‘Genesis’ mellows you out while it’s varied use of instruments, floating in and out, keeps you engaged.

The last track on the EP, ‘Sad Beginnings Have Happy Endings’ is the project’s stand-out single with its neat and effective production, bringing out feelings of pensive sadness without doing too much.
