Wild City Partners With Metal, Barbican, Warp Records and Boiler Room For ‘Different Trains 1947’

19 April 2017

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Indian independence, an alliance of innovative organisations and titans of the arts from the United Kingdom and India have come together to commission a new artistic work.

Metal, a Liverpool-based British artistic laboratory in partnership with Warp Records, Boiler Room, Wild City and What About Art? Will present Different Trains 1947, a brand new audio-visual composition that will bring together the historical and contemporary cultures of UK and India.

A collaboration between artists Darren Cunningham (Actress), Jack Barnett (These New Puritans) and Sanaya Ardeshir (Sandunes) alongside filmmakers/artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (creators of Nick Cave documentary ‘20,000 Days Of Earth’), will curate a brand new audiovisual composition in response to the events of 1947.

Different Trains 1947 will be premiered in Liverpool at Metal before going to Barbican Hall in London (October 2017) and Magnetic Fields Festival in Rajasthan, India (December 15-17), creating a truly epic international showcase for this new commission.

Tickets for both UK performances will go on general sale from April 21 while details for Magnetic Fields will be announced soon.

Boiler Room recently accompanied the artists to Mumbai where they met local musicians and captured field recordings. You can check out the video below and stay tuned for more details.
