Reble Returns To Her Aggressive Trap Roots With 'Praying Mantis' After Bollywood-Breakthrough
20 May 2026
Daiaphi Lamare, aka Reble, is having an undeniable career moment, as her music placement in the controversial yet popular Bollywood film 'Dhurandhar' propelled the already rising rapper to much higher levels of fame. The breakthrough did arrive at a pivotal time for the Meghalaya-rooted artist, who had just wiped her social media slate clean to start anew (plus one passing post on her collaboration with Kim The Beloved) with the 2025 single 'New Riot', which exhibited a more assured style from her as she went head-to-head in grit with Parimal Shais' rock-influenced production.
Her latest single, 'Praying Mantis, moves in a similar direction. Though opting for a more standard trap beat by Lifted, which keeps things sparse to let the heavy bass booms rumble in all their glory, Reble's verses continue to launch sharp attacks at her targets with both pace in her flow and aggression in her verses. The specificity of targets remains vague, or rather, involves multiple options that include the general critics and people who undermine the rapper.
Meanwhile, lines like "Pray then prey just like a mantis // They obey they know consensus" and "No billionaire in front defences // Praying mantis // Now tell me where your rent is?" offer socio-political undertones that expand the target to include the status quo. Given that Reble's recent breakthrough came via a film that has come under fire for being pro-government propaganda, the socio-political bite leaves something to unpack, or, at best, serves, along with the track's aggressive style, to course correct and notify Reble's newfound audience about who she actually is and what they've signed up for.
