khokkosh. Doesn't Flinch From Distilling Unease Into Leftfield Pop On 'freeuse .org'
7 May 2026
On her latest single 'freeuse .org', Yashomati Parveen aka khokkosh. keeps her sound in that spot between experimental abstraction and accessible songwriting that few manage to balance upon, and just by that musical courage, the first impressions put her a cut above (many of the) rest. The track boasts a heavily textured production of glitchy rhythms that seem to crawl upon your skin like critters as the low-end grates. Between all of that and complemented by a dissonant machine noise-like synth melody, the Kolkata-based producer-singer and visual artist centres a song that reflects the overall unease as it questions faith and the higher power with angst.
The constant dramatic vocal performance is what clearly distinguishes the song's structure, which develops seemingly separate from the electronic arrangement and as disjointedly as the narrative vignette of the music video. There is a dissonance through and through in each aspect, and naturally, that creates a kind of journey not many dare to chart, both as music-makers or listeners. But at no point does it feel unintentional. While still in her journey of sonic self-discovery, khokkosh. is an artist fully in control on 'freeuse .org'.
