Ableton Launches India-Specific Pricing With New Updates Including Stem Separation, Splice Integration & More

14 October 2025

Popular digital audio workstation Ableton Live has announced localised pricing for India, marking a step in making its music software, and consequently, music-making more accessible to aspiring producers across the country. The update coincides with the rollout of Live 12.3, which will offer new features like stem separation, integration with the royalty-free sample library Splice and updated audio devices.

The move to local currency pricing means Indian users can now purchase and upgrade Ableton Live in INR, reflecting a more equitable structure that acknowledges the growing number of music makers in the region.

Alongside the pricing update, Ableton Live 12.3 introduces some new powerful tools. Stem Separation will allow users to extract vocals, drums, or instruments from full tracks directly within Live using AI-powered algorithms, opening creative possibilities for remixing, sampling, or live performance workflows.

"Local Stem separation is definitely a key update. It not only makes the process of extracting stems faster but also opens up possibilities for resynthesis and more creative sampling. Using stem separation in conjunction with the 'convert to MIDI' feature would be a game changer," says Jay Panelia, a recognised name in India's electronic music landscape and an Ableton Certified trainer within it.

The new update will also allow access to the online royalty-free sample library Splice from the DAW itself, not only allowing one to filter, search and audition from within the DAW but letting the user 'Search With Sound'. Within that, one can drag and drop a clip into the Splice panel and get samples that fit the rhythm and harmony of the clip.

India's frontrunning electronica artist Sanaya Ardeshir aka Sandunes, who has long been a user of the DAW, tells us: "When it comes to workflow, given how hijacked our attention spans are from social media algorithms and the everyday digital barrage - reducing the need to switch environments and keeping the processes locked into one application is actually a really big aspect of protecting or maintaining that flow state behind the music making. That you can access both from within Live’s browser and with your keyboard/shortcuts is incredible."

Sanaya has also been part of Ableton's effort to educate music makers through informative online videos as well as offline meetups, workshops and conferences. She adds, "The feature I’m most stoked on is device A/B comparison. This is something that also works on Live’s instruments and not only audio effects. For sound designers trying to hit very specific and precise sounds, this is going to help speed up decision-making in a big way!"

The A/B feature will let users switch between different settings of their effects and instruments for quick comparison. Besides that, the update will include updated auto-pan tremolo, new packs, the ability to bounce group tracks and paste bounced audio, as well as new layouts, touch-sensitive step editing and wider support for audio interfaces on Ableton's instrument Push 3.
