Soara Homages Resilience Of Thought-Leaders With Bengali Heavy Metal On 'Bishad'

13 May 2025

Comprised of guitarist Akhilesh Rao and vocalist Pritam Adhikary, who replaces Kartik Subramanian in the outfit, Mumbai and Siliguri-rooted San Francisco-based band Soara has just released 'Bishad', the first single off their upcoming album 'Moksh'.

In line with their previous reflections on acid attacks and the South Asian obsession with fairness, the new single too highlights a societal topic, looking at the warrior-like resilience of gurus and thinkers and evoking spiritual themese – both in the lyricism and the song's music video which is inspired by Satyajit Ray's film 'Heerak Rajar Desh'. The track maintains a well-honed adherence to the fundamentals of heavy metal but brings in influences from Bengali folk singing in the song's culminating sections to add an elevating, refreshing contrast.
