Punch.m Asserts As The New Folktronica Producer On The Block With 'Solora'

After early lo-fi flips, disco tributes, piano pieces and finding his voice in folktronica with his 2024 EP 'Roots', Mumbai's Neerad Sumeet aka Punch.m finally presents what he found with a clear and concise vision on his latest single 'Solora'.

“For me, 'Roots' was really me sowing a seed (of my new sound), watching it grow and flourish, and 'Solora' (and other upcoming singles) are the flowers that have bloomed out of this experience,” says the producer and DJ.

With his background as a piano player, Punch.m bookends the track with harmonies laid out over steady piano chords and arpeggios spelt out as melodies which ultimately become the foundation of the lofty synths and heavy bass hits. The main substance of the track, however, is in the short hooks that intertwine between various instruments, from the bass and the chopped vocal samples to pitched percussion and chimes over busy rhythmic beds of found sounds, field recordings and vinyl crackles – making one easily reminisce the likes of Four Tet and FKJ.
