Parekh & Singh's Nischay Parekh Launches Solo Moniker 'TV Dinner' With Single 'Guessing Games'
27 February 2025
Renowned indie duo Parekh & Singh's Nischay Parekh has just launched a solo moniker titled TV Dinner with the single 'Guessing Games'.
While the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist had also started his solo outlet Nishu for some Hindi-pop works at the start of this decade, TV Dinner's whimsical Sufjan Stevens and Paul Simon-influenced English lyricism is closer to the work Parekh is most known for thanks to Parekh & Singh – except a little bit more stripped back and intimate. Rather than lead one bopping along down to dreamy worlds, TV Dinner aims to create "a comforting sense of intimacy, much like the makeshift meal that he’s chosen as the moniker", we are told.
The debut single 'Guessing Games' signals just as much as Nishchay's straightforward storytelling songwriting over plucked acoustic guitar takes centre stage while abstract puzzles of reversed samples and woodwind melodies decorate the background. Just like the lyrics alternative from left to right on the lyric video, the rhythm too creates a swaying back and forth motion as the song sticks to a simple repetitive rhyme scheme – not to be mundane but rather hypnotic and comforting like a lullaby.
