Innerworld Presents Dense Dance Soundscapes With Debut EP 'Vibrations'
6 August 2024
Minimal techno pioneers like Jeff Mills have been espousing the view that dance music can be for more than just dancing but rather expressing more emotive messages. Over in India, Goa-based Akshay Mathker aka Innerworld upholds the philosophy with his debut EP 'Vibrations', released via Qilla Records.
Over 6 original tracks that come accompanied by 4 remixes from K.O.P. 32, Tadan, Moses and Kohra, Innerworld uses the elements of techno but in dense syntaxes where retrofuturistic arpeggios and melodies clash against each other and reverberating walls of percussion. Through these clashes, Innerworld drives the buildups and drops to create the EP's (and of electronic music in India) three most unique numbers 'Bloom', 'Timbre' and 'Vibrations'.
It is at 'Voyage', that the EP first embraces more traditional rhythms with classic 909 and 808 grooves before launching into the psychedelia of acid on the follow-up 'Ascent'. However even while serving more dancefloor-focused purposes, Innerworld maintains an atmosphere-led ebb and flow.
