DMC World DJ Championships Return To India After 12 Years This Weekend

After a 12-year hiatus, the DMC World DJ Championships are returning to India, with the national finals taking place at antiSOCIAL Mumbai on September 6.

Founded in 1985 as the Disco Mix Club, DMC is the longest-running global DJ competition, built around turntablism and the technical craft of DJing. Its championships have become a defining platform for scratch, beat juggling, cutting and other forms of turntable performance, with past winners including A-Trak, DJ Craze, DJ Kentaro, Q-Bert and Mixmaster Mike.

The India finals will feature two categories: the original DMC Classic Battle, which tests technical skill, creativity and musicality across a six-minute routine, and the Scratch Battle, dedicated entirely to scratch technique. Winners will earn the opportunity to represent India at the World Finals in London later this year.

The return of the competition and its culture in India is being led by DJ Uri alongside The Spindoctor, DJ Mocity and DJ Kan-i, with international champions DJ Fummy, Prime Cuts and Lobito Brigante appearing as judges and performers at the event. The day will also include workshops, equipment showcases and an afterparty.
