Nischay Parekh Selected For RBMA 2014

8 July 2014

Red Bull Music Academy has been changing the landscape of music production worldwide for over 15 years.

The institution that has become synonymous with some of the most colossal talents worldwide is setting up shop in Tokyo for its 16th anniversary in October. Over 6000 producers, vocalists, DJs and instrumentalists applied earlier this year with the hope that they would be one of the 60 participants who would have the chance to learn and create with some of the best in the industry.

We’re very excited to reveal that Kolkata based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Nischay Parekh, has been selected for RBMA’s Tokyo edition. This has been confirmed by Parekh (via social media) and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the hugely talented musician. Parekh will be walking in the footsteps of giants at RBMA – notable lecturers at previous editions of the academy include Flying Lotus, Four Tet, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Eryka Badu, Thundercat, Richie Hawtin and Giorgio Moroder to name just a few.

Parekh completed part of his formal education at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and released his debut album ‘Ocean’ to critical acclaim last year in October. Parekh has got a distinctly melodic pop sound - playful, idealistic but never overdone and it isn’t surprising why RBMA picked the young musician to be a part of the crew.
