Listen: Lead Single From Illum Sphere's Debut Album Via Ninja Tune

4 November 2013

Tracks like this are rare, like crack for the ears - instantly hitting you with a completely new take on the fresh and then moving in a direction that is unimaginable.

Red Bull Music Academy graduate Illum Sphere a.k.a Ryan Hunn has been on our radar for a while now and this preview just makes us want more. He’s been pretty undercover as a producer for the last few years, but with his debut album ‘Ghosts of Then and Now’ set for release via Ninja Tune on February 10 2014, you can expect a drip feed of teasers and an album that is going to make some serious waves.

Founder of Manchester’s renowned club night Hoya:Hoya, Illum has over time remixed Radiohead, toured the world’s best club nights and released music on some of its finest imprints – 3024, Tectonic, Young Turks, and now Ninja Tune, where he’s found a long term home.

His album arrives on the back of eager expectation and if anyone seemed set to make one of the standout albums of the era, it was lllum Sphere. ‘Sleeprunner’ is the lead single for the album, rich with textures, ideas and melody - we know you’ll have this on repeat like us for the rest of the day.
