Music With A Cause: 'Cry Freedom' Hits New Delhi This Weekend

23 August 2013

Following the success of Mumbai's edition of 'Cry Freedom' on 9 August 2103, Indigo Live, in association with blueFROG is bringing the fundraiser to New Delhi this weekend. A event series that carries a message for a revolution, this time - and rightly so, in support for women in India.

"Cry Freedom is a concert that aims to bring together music aficionados, independent, sovereign, open minded and receptive people-all under one single roof, united towards a single cause." - Indigo Live

In collaboration with Give India, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping people support a cause of their choice (from approximately 150 NGOs listed with the group), Cry Freedom aims to support women by raising funds for Swadhar IDWC (Institute for development of Women & Children) and CSSAR (Center for Social Security Action & Research), two of their 'Tier I' NGOs.

"Music, as a medium, reaches out to a wide variety of people and we believe the Cry Freedom concert series is a unique initiative to address the issue of violence against women." - Give India

The main objective is to raise enough funds to support and rebuild the lives of 51 women who have been victims of heinous crimes. We hear the Mumbai edition has already raised funds to cater to 19 of the 51 women targeted.

With a line up made of up acts such as Ash Roy (Jalebee Cartel), Dualist Inquiry, Hari & Sukhmani, Jasleen Royal and Neeti Palta (Stand-up Comedy), the live night aims to not only thrill a variety of punters but also bring a parallel objective of social reform for women.
