Dan Ghenacia To Play New Delhi This Week
1 April 2013
"Dan Ghenacia is the undisputed kingpin of the Paris underground scene and one of France’s hottest DJ exports. Founder and once director of Freak N’Chic for several years, he's now one of the three creative minds behind new label and 'back2back2back' DJ outfit Apollonia."
This weekend he'll be hitting Indian shores, playing a set at Delhi's Kitty Su, which, with a new promoter at the helm has been making some serious moves over the last few weeks. And that's not to say, they haven't got some exciting bookings lined up over the coming months. Trust us on this.
Originally channelling his passion into a record selling business, Dan first entered the industry by opening his own vinyl store, Traffic Records in the heart of Paris back in the late 90s. Quickly gaining notoriety on the city's scene with the infamous afterparties at Batofar, it was here he pefected his distinctive 'techno-meets-deep-house' sound, whilst inspiring a new generation of DJ’s and first sharing the 1's and 2's with his current label partners, Dyed Soundorom and Shonky.
His Freak N’Chic label, in its heyday, broke artists such as Dyed Soundorom, Djebali and Shonky. It even released the debut Jamie Jones EP. An unfortunate dispute between the financial partners, however, meant it was sadly forced to close in 2009. This was only the green light for Ghanacia to launch Apollonia, with Dyed Soundorom and Shonky.
Since then, there's been no stopping him.
"Super excited to be playing my first ever gig in India. Can't wait to see how the people party in New Delhi, and to have the chance to experience a bit of another very special culture. Being a true Frenchman I must admit that I'm also looking forward to the culinary side of things - hoping for a few curry tasting sessions." - Dan Ghenacia
Ghenacia, is a DJ that we've never seen before, but heard enough about. He’s your favourite DJ’s favourite DJ, we guess. You know, one of those guys. And if this mix below is anything to go by, rightly so.
