Bangalore's CounterCulture Launches 'Indie March Festival'

1 March 2013

Bangalore's CounterCulture will this month launch its inaugural edition of the Indie March Festival, a 5 week showcase of some of India’s leading independent musical talent.

In a continued bid to create a larger audience for live performances, this month will not only recognise and celebrate domestic music, but also aims to host other genres of artists from around the country. "These bands have performed in the UK, Europe and Australia and in a host of other countries" says the venue. "Adam & The Fish Eyed Poets, Peter Cat Recording Company, Blek do sound a little like names out of a Douglas Adams, but what they really have in common is they’re homegrown independent young bands making original music."

With this in mind, each week an artist performing at the festival will also be featured on their India March Festival page here, in a venture to expose them to new audiences beyond the borders of Bangalore. This week's artist is Saturday night's headliner Sky Rabbit.

Over the course of the next 5 weekends, the stunning venue will play host to acts such as Gowri, The Shakey Rays, Lifafa (who recently launched his debut LP in New Delhi), Peter Cat Recording Co, Sulk Station, PINKNOISE, ViceVersa and much much more.
