On the 14th of February 2013 dance strikes will be staged around the world as part of the international movement One Billion Rising, inviting one billion women and those who love them to “WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP and DEMAND an end to this violence.” Launched by activist and author of the Vagina Monologues, Eve Ensler, events are so far scheduled to take place in over 190 countries around the world.
"It is something that has gone across class, social group and religion. It's like a huge feminist tsunami," she told the Guardian.
