Naezy
Naezy a.k.a. Naved Shaikh is the torchbearer of the Indian hip-hop. The MC, who rhymes in Hindi and Marathi, was brought up in the chawls of Kurla, a suburb in Mumbai. Hailing from an orthodox Muslim family, Naezy chanced upon hip-hop when he heard Sean Paul's 'Temperature' playing at a wedding in his society. He soon began rehearsing and copying the styles and lyrics of artists such as Lil Wayne, Sean Paul and more. His foray into the world of hip-hop brought him to the doors of legendary MC's such as KRS-One, Public Enemy, Nas, N.W.A and more - artists that helped him discover the importance of writing one's own lyrics and the potential they had to change public discourse. He released his debut single 'Aafat' in January 2014. The song quickly went viral garnering over 2,00,000 views on YouTube.
