GOAT Festival Cuts Lineup & Changes Format Due To Goa Elections

18 January 2017

Goa’s latest festival GOAT has been attracting a lot of attention these last few months for its fantastic lineup and location. Unfortunately the latter has become problematic for the GOAT team. As many of you have probably already heard, Goa’s elections have been moved to 4 Feb – months before they were supposed to have taken place.

A code of conduct restricting live events, liquor and venue licenses and much more has been enforced throughout the territory, due to which the festival has been forced to make certain changes to its format, cut the lineup significantly and shift the venue.

The festival has moved to RE:FRESH Eco Woods, a beautiful property in the same area. Events will begin at 2pm on all three days. Artists that have been cut from the lineup include Hercules & Love Affair, Dope St. Jude, Yussef Kamaal, Sorceress, Madboy/Mink and Don Bhatt + Passenger Revelator. You can check out the final lineup here.

Needless to say, the team is pretty devastated about all of this. They’ve released a statement to address the issue, have cut ticket prices significantly and are now also offering full refunds to anyone who wants to back out of attending the event. Festival goers who do choose to attend however will receive refunds for the difference in price and given free rein of the garden and pool during the daytime (previously only accessible with the VIP ticket). At only Rs 5000 a ticket for all three days (it's 2000 for just one day), it sounds like quite a steal.

Oh, the joys of holding live events in India. Follow GOAT on Facebook for updates and have a look at their website for more information and tickets. Read the full statement about the changes from the GOAT team below.
