Signal W’s ‘Wonder How We Got Here’, A Pop-Rock Frenzy

Goa-based Signal W just released their second album ‘Wonder How We Got Here’. A result of efforts during the pandemic, the band credit creating the album as “a source of returning to sanity and equilibrium”.

The sound in the album takes one back to signature rock/pop notes but is extremely fresh at the same time because of the elegant song-writing and vocals that strike a balance between nostalgia and innovation, creating a sound that is both familiar and excitingly new. There is also a flow to the order of the songs in the album which gives it hints of a concept album, exploring themes that address the collective experiences of emotions like love, celebration, frustration, heartache and sadness.

While the drum sequence of the hook of ‘Bejeweled’ is highly energetic and pumping, reminiscent of signature rock, captivating and intriguing songs like ‘Needs’ and ‘Who is Nothing’ have a mellow and laid-back sound which places the sound of the album on a spectrum of energetic to relaxed.
