Sonar 2016: Preview

15 April 2016

Sonar festival is a three day event of advanced music that first began in Barcelona back in 1994. Since its inception, the annual event has built a name for itself as one of the world’s leading festivals for pushing forward thinking electronic music and new media art. This year's edition of Sonar 2016 will take place from 16-18 June and we'll be attending.

Aside from showcasing some of the international music community’s most exciting new artists over 3 days and nights (in Sonar by Day and Sonar by Night), the festival also hosts an in depth conference called Sonar+D, which was initiated in 2013 and aims to create a dialogue about the digital transformation of the creative industry through interdisciplinary talks, workshops, conferences and more.

The event brings together experts in various fields from around the world to present the tools and ideas that will shape creative experiences in the global creative space, not restricted to music. It’s a great space for anyone in any creative industry to learn more, collaborate, exchange knowledge and forge strong links with other industry folk.

The lineup this year at Sonar is (as usual) off the charts and features the likes of James Blake, Four Tet, New Order, Oneohtrix Point Never, Skepta, Bicep, David August, Alva Noto, Badbadnotgood, Kaytranada and many more. You can check out the full lineup here.
