Bikanervaala Releases A Rendition Of Faiz Ahmed Faiz's 'Bekaar Kuttey'

India has a bustling community of travelling artistes that's remained under-talked-about within the conversations around the country's alternative culture. Reaching out from it with a wider release, Bikaner's Sorav Gahlot aka Bikanervaala has just dropped a rendition of 'Bekaar Kuttey', a nazm by iconic poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

While there's no shortage of modern renditions of classic poetry and folk songs, including that of 'Bekaar Kuttey', Bikanervaala, with the help of Bharat Khulbe, gives it a rock oomph just with his voice, and the strums and percussion of an acoustic guitar. The simplicity of the arrangement and the recording adds to the rawness of the emotion behind the artists' emulation of a tune about the power of the common man and the treatment meted out to them.
