Emaho Announced Details For First Ever Emerging Asian Photography Grant

Emaho Magazine was founded in 2011 by Manik Katyal with the objective of highlighting some of the best creative talent (largely but not limited to) Asia. In its brief 4 years running, Emaho has explored territories in photography, art, travel and much more, steadily forging a firm space for itself in the global art and culture circuits.

The Emaho Foundation has just announced its first grant towards honouring and identifying the work of gifted photographers in Asia. The Emaho Emerging Asian Photography Grant, born out of the foundation, aims to provide financial support of 5000 USD to deserving applicants and provide and international platform to exhibit their work to a broader audiences.

“The grant will be awarded to a photographer selected by a reputed panel of international jury on the basis of her/his photographic brilliance, a distinct viewpoint, sincere engagement with the subject matter and a strong desire to establish the body of works internationally.” – Emaho

Emaho has recruited 5 jury members who will select the awardee, including Christian Caujolle, founder of Agence VU in France, Kira Pollack, director of photography at Time Magazine in the USA, founder and editor-in-chief of Emaho Magazine, Manik Katyal from the motherland, Naoko Ohta, president and CEO of Klee, Inc., Japan and award winning Iranian documentary photographer Newsha Tavakolian.

Applications are open till 12pm (IST), 31 July 2015 and the name of the grant recipient will be announced in September.
