Jodhpur Flamenco and Gypsy Festival Announces Lineup and Details

19 March 2015

Details have been announced for the Jodhpur Flamenco and Gypsy Festival, the acclaimed flagship edition of which took place last year. The second chapter of the event will take place once more at the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, Rajasthan from 3 – 5 April.

As the name suggests, the JFG Festival’s main purpose is to sustain and promote the ancient bond between Rajasthani folk musicians and flamenco and gypsy artists from all around the world. The performers will trace the evolution of flamenco and gyspsy tradition as well as showcasing progressive collaborative sounds that they’ve written specially for the festival - a really wonderful synthesis of appreciating and reviving the old while keeping things fresh and original. The JGF Festival also aims to educate its audience about gypsy culture, especially the fact that their culture is rooted in Rajasthan (as backed by a number of studies). The team promises that the second edition will be even bigger and brighter than before.

This years lineup includes Latin jazz pianist Chano Dominguez, expert bassist Javier Colina, flamenco dancer and choreographer Daniel Navarro Munoz and house/world music producer Hamza amongst others. The entire lineup can be viewed here.

Previous attendees of the JGF Festival came back with glowing reviews, unsurprising after we viewed their recap video (embedded below) at the magical Mehrangarh displays. Have a look at their website for more information and ticket details.
