Listen: 'Flames' From Prateek Kuhad's Forthcoming LP

11 November 2014

Singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad has announced plans to release his first full-length album, ‘In Tokens & Charms’ in January 2015.

Kuhad, a multilingual singing talent, hails from New Delhi, but truly began performing and recording his music in New York while attending college at NYU. The album has been written entirely in English, though he is effortlessly comfortable balancing both Hindi and English. Speaking of this ability, Kuhad said, “I really enjoy writing in both languages. All my songwriting is very instinctive, so, sometimes the words come through in English, and sometimes in Hindi – it just depends on what I’m feeling at the time. We’ve all grown up speaking and thinking, watching films and listening to music in both languages – it’s who we are.

One of the few artists out there whose signature, soothing style is apparent in either language, he has been impressing listeners around the country. Ever since his hugely enjoyable and successful EP ‘Raat Raazi’ dropped in late 2013, Kuhad has been turning heads at every event he has played.

His warm, melodious tunes mix well with obvious folk and pop-rock sensibilities, no doubt picked up from a young age, and it can sometimes seem all he needs to do is pick up a guitar to create some magic. Kuhad released one single 'Flames', for free download, from the upcoming album, which you can listen to below:
