Major Lazer Set To Tour India This December
29 September 2014
Electronic supergroup Major Lazer have just announced plans to tour India later this year.
New promoters Oji, in association with VH1 Supersonic, are bringing the dynamic performance crew to visit Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi in December, 2014. One of India’s quintessential new event production companies, Oji place a strong emphasis on pushing the newest, freshest and most innovative music that comes out of the ever-expanding global music industry. In the past Oji has hosted dupstep duo Skream & Benga, UK based producer Flux Pavilion and a one off date with Skream (Solo).
The digital reggae/dancehall brainchild of American DJ Diplo, Major Lazer currently enlists the help of producer/DJs Jillionaire and Walshy Fire for live shows and events. To date, Major Lazer have released two full length albums - 'Guns Don't Kill People... Lazers Do' and 'Free the Universe', alongside three high energy EPs.
Major Lazer's debut album, 'Guns Don't Kill People... Lazers Do' is considered a seminal work in combining electro-house with elements of reggae and dancehall. Recorded at Jamaica's Tuff Gong studios, the album featured legendary dancehall performers Vybz Cartel, Busy Signal and Mr. Vegas. Furious and fast-paced, their sophomore album 'Free the Universe' features a varied mix of artists, ranging from the aforementioned Vybz Cartel and Santigold to Laidback Luke and Flux Pavilion.
With a fresh album under their belts, and new EP 'Apocalypse Soon' released earlier this year, there is much to look forward to in the world of Major Lazer. And this will no doubt be a fierce live show.
As of now, the only information we have is that the tour will take place through December (right bang in the middle of Magnetic Fields Festival) in the following cities:
12 December - Mumbai
13 December - Delhi
14 December - Bangalore
