Listen: SBTRKT Debuts New Sounds In Live Maida Vale Session

25 August 2014

The international music community has been waiting with bated breath for the September release of London based act – SBTRKT’s sophomore album ‘Wonder Where We Land’ since its announcement back in July. The outfit, masterminded by masked producer Aaron Jerome, has released 4 live tracks - 'Temporary View', 'Highs & Lows', 'War Drums' and 'New Dorp, New York', on SoundCloud, which were recorded live at the Maida Vale Session for BBC Radio 1.

SBTRKT came into the spotlight initially with his high profile remixes and went on to gain massive acclaim for his debut self titled album that dropped in 2011. ‘Wonder Where We Land’ will be his second full length release and sees the artist collaborating with huge musical talents Warpaint, Ezra Koenig and Sampha, among others.

The energetic tracks released are typical of SBTRKT’s colourful, experimental yet accessible style and are hugely enjoyable. ‘Temporary View’ sees SUBTRKT teaming up with long time collaborator Sampha to produce a predictably smooth number. His bass influences, tinted with pop sensibility, are apparent in the album’s first single, 'New Dorp, New York' which features Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend fame. ‘War Drums’ saw the artist collaborate with War Paint which, along with ‘High & Lows’, aren’t on the tracklist for his new album and appear to be bonus tracks.

You can listen to SUBTRKT’s new sounds below, set to release on 23 September via Young Turks:
