Disco Don 'Johnny Hiller' To Play In New Delhi Tonight

19 June 2013

Johnny Hiller's first involvement with dance music came back in 1984, when he began compiling a series of mixtapes via "pause-button ghetto blaster edits" from various formats (audio tapes, radio recordings and weekly vinyl purchases), featuring a blend of disco, boogie, italo, pop, new wave, balearic and proto-house, all of which still influence his taste in music today.

Witnessing the soon to follow acid/house explosion, Johnny moved to Hong Kong in 1989, purchased a set of Technics MK2’s and started promoting parties. Since then Johnny Hiller hasn’t looked back and following his move to London in 1994, he’s been a firm fixture in London’s nightlife scene.

The launch of his club night Lasermagnetic in 2005 with partner in crime Neil Thornton, pushing a broad and open minded spectrum of disco, really put Johnny Hiller on the map amongst international disco spinners. Lasermagnetic is regarded as one of the most forward thinking parties in London with an international reputation. With many warehouse parties, bank holiday specials and pub all-dayers under their belt, as well as residencies at top London clubs such as Fabric, Plastic People, Corsica Studios, Cargo, Egg, Turnmills, East Village and more, it's a thriving empire.

It is exactly this versatility and experience that make up Hiller's trademark sound, often playing eclectic sets showcasing balearic to post-punk, new wave, funk, boogie, afro/rock and of course deep house, techno and nu disco.

He will be showing off his skills tonight at New Delhi's Kitty Su. If you're looking for something to do, this is it. Highly recommended.
