A WORLDWIDE THING: #DECEMBER
19 January 2015
Radio Broadcaster and DJ IAMRISHA hosts a bi-monthly show on Delhi-based online station Radio 79. It's called and showcases global underground sounds that range from soul and funk through to tropical bass. Every month she'll bring us a recap of the show's freshest sounds and styles - exclusively for Wild City.
1206301'm gonna bounce right in with a few of my favourite tracks from the past few weeks. Silky smooth neo-soul gem Mayor Hawthorne is back, this time partnering with Jake One as the outfit ‘Tuxedo'. They fail to disappoint with ‘Do it’ out on Stones Throw.
‘Kisses’ is the third single from Anushka's debut album 'Broken Circuit' that features Trim. It’s a touch of playful footwork mixed with dance-pop soul vibes that do justice to Victoria's tender vocals.
My favourite Toronto trio, Badbadnotgood showcase their work not just as musicians but remixers in the space of electronic jazz. 'Kaledidoscope' is a standout from their new album on Innovative leisure that has been remixed by XL Recordings producer Kaytranada.
I've been looking forward to new productions from one of my favourite LA producers - Lost Midas. His third single 'Dream of Me' stays experimental with a beautiful dreamy hook out on Tru Thoughts.
History of Colour from El Buho & Barrio Lindo celebrates the intersect between Latin America and Europe, both in the project and music through folklore - charango, shakers, ocarina, dizi flute - and found sources, rain drops, barking dogs, birds chirping and electronica through synths and laptops - there's a lot going on, but it works beautifully. Check it out on episode 46.
