Watch: Swet Shop Boys Release New Video

27 January 2017

Hip-hop trio Swet Shop Boys, comprised of Heems [formerly of Das Racist], Riz MC [aka Riz Ahmed, star of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story], and producer Redinho, dropped their latest video today. After the release of their critically-acclaimed album, 'Cashmere', the trio came through with a video for their single ‘Zayn Malik’.

The Broken Antenna-directed video proudly depicts the Indian and Pakistani diaspora throughout the world. A celebration of British-Asian culture, the video is dimly lit and takes place at night. Drones circle over Riz, Heems and a young South Asian supporting cast as they let off fireworks and throw outdoor parties. Hanging out together, they gladly show off their community spirit, reminding one of Diwali or Holi festivities.

A few years ago, Heems and Riz MC teamed up to the create the group. A few months ago, they dropped their stirring, swaggering debut album and now with the release of this dark and emotive video, they should be on everyone’s radar.
