Rudy Mukta Returns With Kalmi-Produced Single 'Love & Limerance'
16 September 2025
Bangalore singer-songwriter Rudy Mukta and producer Kalmi (who recently rose to fame for his collaboration with Hanumankind on 'Big Dawgs') just released their collaborative single 'Love & Limerance'.
The single marks a return or new chapter for Rudy, who scraped her early work off her social profiles to start this shift with an appearance on Hanumankind's 2025 mixtape 'Monsoon Season'. Subsequently, the single takes her away from the lo-fi and raw qualities that defined her early work or even the brazen edge that she naturally brought to the table, even in her previous collaborations with Kalmi.
Instead, 'Love & Limerance' comes as a deeply emotional pop lament. “In today’s world, people try so hard to protect themselves that they end up playing games—keeping one foot in and one foot out, " explains Rudy. "'Love and Limerence' is about that quiet ache you feel when you want closeness but don’t know how to show it. It’s about the tension between desire and fear, the longing that sits in the background of so many relationships today.”
Over piano chords, Rudy's introspection of a relationship echoes out alongside the echoes of drum hits and the ambience of sounds in reverse that are used to create anticipation, besides the rise in Rudy's own voice before climactic moments. It's an assembly of by-the-book elements and, as a result, does sound dated.
However, that may not land badly. The emotions and the performance on the track do come off as authentic and charged. For anyone who connects with the message, with its tone of heartache, can find comfort in the familiarity of the sonic palette that brings up nostalgia for 00s pop ballads.
