Disco Puppet Surprise Drops New EP 'Hide'

Bangalore-based artist Shoumik Biswas aka Disco Puppet just recently released their new EP 'Hide'. In contrast to the producer and multi-instrumentalist's previous release, the album 'Love & Everything Depressing' which unfolded over the course of the year with music videos and lunch gigs, the new 4-track EP comes almost unannounced – save for a few related Instagram stories about its creation and naming.

“For me, every album is like learning a tool or device – and I don’t just mean actual physical device, but it could be a technique or whatever it may be,” Biswas told us last year. While even 'Hide' has a running theme of utilising elements that fit horror soundtracks and sampling screams to create melodies, its most impressive feat is to show how Biswas stands out even when using a more conventional sonic palette of wobbling bass and dancefloor-friendly rhythms – especially apparent on the tracks 'Bone Broth' and 'Raven Song'.
