Sandunes & Jiver Launch Collaborative Project ‘Perfect Timing’ Via Red Bull Music Academy

16 October 2015

We’ve got high hopes for this one. Two of this country’s most precocious contemporary musicians – Mumbai's Sandunes (Sanaya Ardeshir) and Kolkata's Jiver (Jivraj Singh), have launched their brand new collaborative project ‘Perfect Timing’, with a new single and video for 'Tangerine Fool' released exclusively via the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy.

The new duo first met when they played with the Dualist Inquiry live band, along with frontman Sahej Bakshi. As is apparent from the video embedded below, both musicians felt an instant aesthetic connection and an itch to collaborate, which eventually manifested itself as Perfect Timing.

Perfect Timing’s debut EP will be released in its entirety early next year. Their sound covers a range of music that has influenced them both over the years, so expect everything from jazz and hip-hop to noise and unusual experimental electronica. Going by their intricately constructed and produced first single, there's a lot to look forward too. Glitchy, melodic but still complex, 'Tangerine Fool' has definitely kicked things off for the duo on a high.

“Often, collaboration in music can be a gimmicky thing, like something to do just because it’s cool. We took a long time to get down to collaborating because we wanted the conditions to be right – basically, we didn’t want any conditions.” – Jivraj Singh (Jiver)

When musicians are enthusiastic about what they’re doing, it becomes infectious. That’s what happened in their first teaser video. The short, stylized film integrates interviews and studio footage of the both of them with their first single 'Tangerine Fool'.

Perfect Timing will be premiered live on the 28th of October, in Mumbai, at Todi Mills Social. They will open for UK/Berlin-based house and garage producer, and Red Bull Music Academy alumni, xxxy on his debut tour of India, in Mumbai. Details here.
