Listen: Réunion Island and India Collaborate On 'Tomato Garlic Onion Curcuma EP'

1 March 2014

Late last year, a tie-up between India and Réunion Island formalised between 3 producers, collaborating both physically and online - facilitated via the supporting hand of Indiearth X-change, Sakifo Musik Festival and I.O.M.M.A.

Brought to life by Psychorigid, a prolific and elusive electronic music producer and DJ emerging from Réunion Island, it pursued the concept of electronic music as a medium to connect musicians across both distances and genres. Over on our shores, Delhi based Audio Pervert and Hashback Hashish, presented two contrasting versions of the original track, in the curiously titled 3-track EP; 'Tomato Garlic Onion Curcuma'.

In a testament to the success of this intercultural exchange, it was in fact when Teddy Boy Kill won the Indiearth/IOMMA 'call for artist showcase competition' to perform at IOMMA 2013 and the Sakifo Musik Festival (Réunion Island), that they first met Psychorigid. Eventually upcoming producer Hashback Hashish was also added to the mix - tying up proceedings with a 3-city Indian tour which took place in December 2013.

“I met Audio Pervert when he came to IOMMA 2013. He was wearing this t-shirt with the logo of Black Flag, I asked him if he knew that band, he knew the band and listened to the music. I was impressed seeing him play with Teddy Boy Kill, with two computers and a Mopho synth. I thought it would make a good partnership if we play music together. And what a name – Audio Pervert! Mine’s Psychorigid. I think we were destined to play music together.” - Psychorigid (Indiearth)
