Ayush Sayalkar Creates Evocative Sound Collages On Debut EP 'till i see you'

21 May 2025

ONNO Collective is a platform for music that's mostly described as "experimental", and the label's latest release 'till i see you', the debut EP by Mumbai's Ayush Sayalkar, is no different. However, this isn't a cacophony of noise or placating textures that stay in their comfortable diatonic homes.

There is a definite sense of composition on the 3 tracks that make up the EP, but not one that utilises the melodies and harmonies (though both are present) so much. It rather only treats them as part of the source material that contains them: recordings of ambience and distanty-ringing musical elements. Though it briefly supplements them by piano notes on 'if you could stay', 'till i see you' arranges these bits and pieces that feel like fragments from memories and dreams into evocative collages – creating a piece of ambient work without relying on the genre's cliches.
