flux vortex Samples Asha Puthli On Breakbeat Track 'The Devil'

22 April 2025

With the pitched vocal echoes and rising patterns on orchestral samples interplaying against each other to create the quirky but emotive textures that set off 'The Devil', Aditya Kapoor aka flux vortex already had a welcome track on its hand if he had just extended it. However, the Goa-based Delhi-rooted artist moves on after teasing that direction, only using remnants of it as he builds anticipation onto laidback breakbeats on the single, which comes out as part of 'Fresh Faces Part I', a compilation by the Prague label YUKU.

The track cruises around syncopating and funky hooks over weighty repeated bass before leading onto the song's defining section which brings the patterns from the intro over less cinematic tones and a refrain of the legendary vocalist Asha Puthli singing "the devil" from her track 'The Devil Is Loose' – the source of various samples on the track.
