28 September 2023

Farhan Rehman just released a 2-track EP ‘Cool Cat, Jazz Cat’ in which he explores his jazz, Afro and Latin influences within a club friendly context.

The first song ‘Cool Cat, Jazz Cat’, features a dynamic and intricately balanced mix of percussion and drums, enhanced by a chromatic and funk-infused rhythmic bassline played on the renowned Rhodes keyboard. The saxophone takes the lead with jazzy piano embellishments that gracefully enhance the underlying groove. Drawing inspiration from the lively rhythms of Latin Jazz, the track's expressive melodies blend effortlessly with the energetic vibes of house music. The result is a song that is culturally diverse and groovy, making it perfectly refreshing for the dancefloor.

The second track ‘Kalakuta’ serves as a tribute to the legendary Kalakuta Republic, which was the center of Fela Kuti's ground-breaking artistic and political ideals. Grounded in the vibrant world of Afrobeat and African Funk, this Afro House track continues the EP’s journey of blending various musical styles, incorporating elements into a lively and ever-evolving soundscape, reminiscent of togetherness, rhythm and liberation through music and dance.
