aswekeepsearching just released their album 'kyun?', marking their first long-form release since 2020.

The Ahmedabad-rooted trio marks a decade of their journey with the 10-track release, turning to cherished memories, hardships and the strength mustered during it for the songwriting.

“This album is not just about the music—it’s about the emotional landscape we have navigated and continue to navigate,” says guitarist-vocalist Uddipan Sarmah. “We faced moments of self-doubt and uncertainty, questioning why we continue to create and walk this challenging path. But ultimately, we found beauty in sharing our story, even when the destination was unclear.”

The band is primarily led by Hindi-lyricism-meets-post-rock sound the band is known for, which is reminiscent of India's turn-of-the-century indie rock groups. Both the classic guitar-led sound and the simple rock ballad lyrics are dated in this day and age, but for someone who hasn't had their fill of it and craves for more of it in a musical landscape that is making it a rarity, 'kyun?' is a precious new release made with a genuine and sincere love for the sonics it showcases.

Tracks like 'shayad bhool gaye' carry compelling riff-led energy while string arrangements peppered through the release add a cinematic new edge to the rock sound – 'into the mind' being a prime example of it. The peak sonic delight, however, is the ambient sections of the opener 'why?', 'nature of light' and the closer 'of unsaid farewells' that carry the tranquil influences from the band's previous long-form outing and push them towards a welcome evolution.
