Frame/Frame Releases Debut Album 'Driftwood'

7 September 2022

After gradually re-entering the limelight as a musician with 2020's 'Essential Knowledge' and the occasional single release, Nikhil Kaul aka Frame/Frame recently dropped his first-ever album 'Driftwood'.

The 9-track release covers vast grounds within dance music, moving from bubbling electronica on tracks like 'Bamboo Groves To Hide In' and 'Shadows', through minimal house (for most parts) on '3 Am At MagFields' and an influence of dub on the title track, to the ambient closer 'Nightshade'. The DJ, producer and visual artist connects all these styles, distilling his long-standing experience as an electronic artist, with an emotional thread. As the title of '3 Am At MagFields' suggests, the album is an imaginative dancefloor soundtrack for the late hours of the night, packing the revelry of the after hours of a night-out before diving back into high gear for a final bow-out in its later half and finally ending with an introspective comedown.

Nikhil substantiates the perception with his explanation: "My favourite kind of albums growing up were the ones that told a story. That was a very big factor when deciding which songs made it onto the album."
