boxout.fm & Future Female Sounds To Promote Gender Diversity In Online Performance Spaces With ‘Digital Dancefloor’

12 October 2020

With the aim of strengthening the cultural bond between India and Denmark, and allaying the disparity in gender representation in the world of live performances even as they are confined to digital spaces due to the ongoing pandemic, New Delhi-based online radio boxout.fm, and Danish NGO and booking agency Future Female Sounds have announced ‘Digital Dancefloor’.

Receiving support from Danish Cultural Institute India, the programme will feature DJ performances with artists from both India and Denmark, namely, Lush Lata, Kaleekarma, DJ Ishani and AGENT from India, and Sara Vita, Emma Schack, DJ Phiona and DJ Claudiacation from Denmark. The DJ sets will be supplemented by live visuals from India’s VJ Samvida and Denmark’s Signe.

Alongside the performances, the artists will share their perspectives on the music industry’s gender politics, working during the pandemic and becoming a DJ. The entire programme takes place as livestreams on boxout.fm’s Mixcloud Live at 9:30 PM IST over four consecutive weekends starting October 17 and concluding on November 7 – with the exception of a Zoom talk on hosting workshops for the local community, the details of which are yet to be announced.
