Watch: Begum Releases New Video For ‘Marry Me’

2 March 2015

We’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve ascribed the word ‘nostalgia’ with Delhi based band Begum, but really, it’s the only expression that comes close to translating their sound to the written word.

The lo-fi/psychadelic band has just released a video for ‘Marry Me’ - a charming, slightly bittersweet tune from one of our favourite 2014 albums ‘Bagh’. Filmed at a local fair in the little Rajasthani town of Pushkar, the video for ‘Marry Me’ stitches together POV shots from atop of Ferris wheels at sunset with twirling, technicoloured park rides for simple yet effective film that’s bound to bring a dopey smile to any face. More than anything else, the video and song go together like a hot, comforting cup of coffee on a cloudy day.

Proust once said that “remembrance of things past is not necessarily the remembrance of things as they were”. It’s hard to describe, but that’s exactly the feeling ‘Marry Me’ evokes. It gives a coloured perspective on times gone by, arousing an odd feeling of reliving what used to be reality in a surreal light.

‘Marry Me’ has been filmed by Begum’s drummer Karan Singh and fellow pcrc compatriot Suryakant Sawhney, who was also responsible for the editing and FX. See what you make of the video below and follow Begum on Facebook for updates. 'Bagh' is available to buy here on OKListen.
