Preview: Manto Tribute at NCPA

21 May 2013

Saadat Hasan Manto. It's not every year, decade or even century that a writer like him is born but we were lucky enough to have more than our fair share. Last year marked the 100th birth anniversary of the literary genius and Whistling Woods International has decided to pay tribute to the man, albeit a little late, by producing the whole charade.

The show will feature a series of vignettes, three short stories to be precise, all penned by the late author. The cherry-picked include 'Nangi Awaazein', 'Hatak' and 'Akhri Salute' all of which will be staged at the NCPA. It goes without saying that you don't want to show up at this performance with basic knowledge of bombaiyya Hindi. If the producers mean to do Manto's work any sort of justice, these will be in pure Urdu, through and through. If you're fluent in that particular tongue however, the show promises to be worth your while.

The show starts at 6.30pm. Tickets Rs150 and Rs135. Call +91 22 6622 3737. Book your tickets here.
