BlowUp: Photography For The People

24 January 2012

BlowUp, a partner festival for UnBox is a platform that encourages photographers to present their work in public spaces using effective and affordable means. Curated by BlindBoys and running from Feb 3 - 5, the festival aims to provide a platform for photographers in the forefront of socio-cultural expression whilst allowing the general public to engage with photography both freely and accessibly.

Over the course of the weekend, a fellowship exhibition will be held at the India Habitat Centre Experimental Arts Gallery whilst the city will play host to ad-hoc public galleries on Sunday February 5.

"There was a need for a real physical interaction between the photographers themselves and a effective, affordable and enjoyable way to take their work and ideas to the public. Consider this with the idea that people on the streets have virtually no window to images outside the realm of television, magazines and papers, it suddenly seemed like a natural thing to do." - BlindBoys

To participate, simply email your work through to theblindboys@gmail.com. When sending images, please ensure:

  • Each image is at least 4mb and 100dpi
  • You include a text file with an introduction to yourself and your project/work
  • The files are zipped to one file named "blowupdelhi_yourname"

BlowUp's street galleries will run on Sunday February 5 from 3pm onwards in Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi.
