Angad Berar & Jamblu Jam Out Guitars & Electronics on 'Sundae'
19 June 2025
Angad Berar and Kartik Pillai aka Jamblu (also known as a member of Peter Cat Recording Co. and Begum) have recently put out a collaborative record entitled 'Sundae'.
An album described by Berar as "locomotive, krautrock-inspired hindustani psych music", the 8-track release is primarily constituted of guitar meanderings over supportive synth beds that shift between laidback patient melodies to distorted instrumental wailings that frequently lean onto their imperfections. Consequently, like most jam-based works, the album too showcases moments of high inspiration and delight sandwiched between moments of weeding through the redundant ideas to search for them – made for those who enjoy patiently the journey of such explorations.
Every once in a while, drums are either reverberating to lend a modern indie-rock aesthetic or lo-fi in their recording for a DIY flavour, while the bass and the composition style maintain a Beatles-esque and 70s flavour.
The one exception to the formula is the album's only vocal-led single called 'Driving With You' that stands tall within the album for its hushed, fuzzy and romantic emotions alongside the bookending tracks, which utilise the record's sonic aesthetic for completely ambient purposes.
