Treble Puns Flip Iconic Bollywood Lament 'Dil Ke Armaan' With 'Chill Ke Armaan'
17 February 2025
Treble Puns, the Bangalore duo of Sohini Bhattacharya and Abhimanyu Roy drop an unexpected addition to their discography with 'Chill Ke Armaan', taking a break from their usual examination of life and its despairs for a flip of Bollywood with a dose of meme culture in the music video.
The duo takes Salma Agha's iconic lament 'Dil Ke Armaan' from 1982's 'Nikaah', and uses samples from it to create a track about constantly getting interrupted from their effort to chill. What remains constant is the pair's penchant for using their rock-flared drum and guitar playing to emulate styles of dance music – this time the low-end heavy laidback outing of bass music. It is what adds an appreciable serious effort that separates Treble Puns' 'Chill Ke Armaan' from other Bollywood Fills and saves the light-hearted effort from falling victim to the subject material's off-handedness.
