Oceantied & The Sine Painter Selected To Attend RBMA Montreal 2016

27 June 2016

The esteemed Red Bull Music Academy has just announced its class of 2016, set to take place in Montreal, between 24 September to 28 October. We’re extremely proud to announce that joining The Sine Painter (selected last year for the RBMA Paris, which was tragically cut short due to the attacks in the city) will be Bangalore based musician and producer – Ketan Bahirat, a.k.a. Oceantied.

The institution has selected over 70 applicants from 38 countries around the world to participate in a series of talks, workshops and performances led by some of the brightest minds in music today.

Both The Sine Painter (Jayanth Ramachandra) and Oceantied (Ketan Bahirat) hail from Bangalore. A number of you would already know that Ramachandra was selected last year for RBMA Paris, but couldn’t go due to the cancellation of the event after the tragic attacks in the city. However, he’s been busy using the last year to better his skills and hone his live shows (remember his set at Magnetic Fields Festival last year?). We’ve also heard that the producer has been dabbling in some experimental grime, and we can’t wait to hear what it sounds like.

Ketan Bahirat is known best for his work with one of our leading post-rock projects Until We Last, but his relatively new solo venture Oceantied has been getting a fair bit of attention too, this last year, and will undoubtedly continue to do so after the good news. His music oscillates anywhere between melodic downtempo to Teklife inspired, frenzied footwork.

Wild City extends its heartiest congratulations to both producers – we couldn’t be more thrilled that India’s potential is finally being noticed. You can check out the entire list of selected applicants here and check out RBMA’s website for more information and Facebook page for updates.
