Biswa Bangla Noise Brings Together Ambient & Noise Producers From Bengal Region

West Bengal-based label Biswa Bangla Noise just released a compilation entitled '০', galvanising the budding crop of experimental artists from West Bengal and, with the inclusion of Debopom Ghosh Must Be Killed, even from Bangladesh. Producers like TITO+, Revant (previously known as Haved Jabib) and Bengal Chemicals contribute to the 10-track compilation while The Blue Raja, Hungry Thoughts and Eeshani Mitra mark their first release.
'০' traverses the connecting road between noise and ambient as the works by Ritwik Mishra and Eeshani Mitra offer beds of harmonic pads and meandering melodies. Similar layers are morphed and distorted till the harmonic or melodic information is scathed into blistering noises that dominate the compilation – sometimes letting up to offer familiar rhythms while other times just carrying the musical narrative through the gradual transformation of timbre and intensity. Open Hungry Thoughts also throws in field recordings to the mix, juxtaposing pads, noises and repetitive speech samples to create a fever dream largely free of musical conventions.
